SLSA and TLAM Subsystems
On a Himalaya S-series server, Tandem NonStop TCP/IP processes interface to the
network through the SLSA subsystem. The SLSA subsystem provides QIO-based driver
and interrupt handlers (DIHs) that allow Tandem NonStop TCP/IP processes to connect
to Ethernet 4 ServerNet adapters (E4SAs). The SLSA subsystem is preconfigured and
started during the system load sequence.
On a Himalaya K-series server, Tandem NonStop TCP/IP processes can interface to the
network through the TLAM subsystem (QIO non-direct mode) or directly to a 3615
Ethernet controller using the QIO subsystem (QIO direct mode).
For more information about the SLSA subsystem, refer to the LAN Configuration and
Management Manual. For more information about the TLAM subsystem, refer to the
TLAM Configuration and Management Manual.
Additional Software
One or more of the following Tandem division products are required depending on the
type of remote access connection you want to configure:
•
If the Himalaya NonStop server will act as a host to client workstations that access
Pathway servers, you must install the Remote Server Call (RSC) product. RSC is
described in the Remote Server Call (RSC) Installation and Management Guide.
•
If the Himalaya NonStop server will allow client workstations to access applications
written for use with the Microsoft Open Data Connectivity (ODBC) product,
Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase SQL server, you must install the NonStop ODBC
Server product. NonStop ODBC Server is described in the NonStop ODBC Server
Installation and Management Manual.
•
If the Himalaya NonStop server will act as a Web server, you must install the iTP
Secure Webserver product. iTP Secure Webserver is described in the iTP Secure
WebServer System Administrator’s Guide.
•
If workstation users will use 6530 terminal emulator or VT-series terminal emulator
to access 6530 applications, you must install the TELNET Server (Telserv)
subsystem and configure a Telserv process. The Telserv subsystem is described in
the SCF Reference Manual for Telserv. Configuring a Telserv process is described in
Configuring a Telserv Process
on page 8-6.
