Configuring Users and Ports on the AWAN Access
Server
Configuring users and ports for remote access connections involves the following steps:
1. Configure user and port access.
2. Configure line and modem properties for each remote access port.
3. Configure advanced line properties for each remote access port.
4. Configure remote access security.
Step 1: Configuring User and Port Access
Configuring user access involves configuring user names and passwords and enabling
the protocols that can be used by each user. Configuring port access involves enabling
protocols for each port that will be used for remote access.
Configuring user and port access is explained in Section 7, Configuring User and Port
Access.
Step 2: Configuring Line and Modem Properties
Configuring internal and external modems is explained in Section 12, Configuring
Modem Connections.
Step 3: Configuring Advanced Line Properties
Choose ANSI from the Term Type drop-down list box and Local from the Access drop-
down list box on the Adv. Line tab dialog box. Leave the Default Protocol drop-down
list box at its default setting (Telnet).
To display the Adv. Line tab dialog box, choose Properties... from the Port-Specific
menu for the port you want to configure and then click the Adv. Line tab. Figure 9-4
shows the Adv. Line tab dialog box with Term Type ANSI and Access Local selected.
