Abstract

This manual describes how to configure, manage, and troubleshoot Asynchronous wide

area network (AWAN) access server modules 3883-8, 3883-8R, 3883-16, 3883-16R,

3884, 3884R, 3885, and 3885R. This manual is written for anyone who is responsible

for configuring, managing, or troubleshooting these AWAN access server models. This

manual complements the AWAN 3883/4/5 Access Server Installation and Support Guide.

Supported Releases

This manual supports D42 and subsequent D-series releases and G03.00 and later

G-series releases until otherwise indicated in a new edition.

Document History

What’s New In This Edition

This edition of the manual documents the new current loop interface and provides any

other additional instructions and procedures for configuring your AWAN access server.

This manual also contains the updated information found on the compact disk (CD)

shipped with each new AWAN access server unit.

The major product and documentation changes are as follows:

A new current loop adapter is introduced; because of this new interface adapter,

there are small modifications to the RAS Management Tool. The interface changes

are documented in section 8; new commands are documented in Appendix C.

New documentation has been added for updating the boot and runtime code. These

changes are documented in section 14.
