Setting Up a Telnet Service

Step Action Comments
1. Type a name for the Telnet service in 
the Telnet Name text box.
The Telnet service name is used for 
descriptive purposes only. This step is 
optional.
2. Choose a TCP port number in the 
range 2001 through 2064 from the 
TCP Port drop-down list box.
TCP ports 2001 through 2064 are used for 
dial-out connections. 
Note: Do not use TCP port 23 for dial-out 
connections.
3. Choose the port on the modem port 
module or the asynchronous port 
where the external modem is 
connected from the Available list box. 
This list box displays the physical ports on 
the AWAN access server that can be mapped 
to a TCP port. 
To set up a modem pool, map multiple 
physical ports to a single TCP port.
4. Click the Enable option button to 
enable the Telnet service for the port.
5. Click Add>> to make the port active. The port is displayed in the Active window.
6. Click OK.
