Configuring Workstations for Telnet Dial-Out
Configuring Workstations for Telnet Dial-Out
You must install a TCP/IP stack and Telnet client software on workstations that will dial
out from the AWAN access server. Workstation users also will need the appropriate
terminal emulator or telecommunications software, depending on the types of
connections they will make. Finally, you must provide Telnet users with the following
information:
The IP address of the AWAN access server
The TCP port number for the Telnet service on the AWAN access server
For example, to reach a dial-out port from a Windows 95 or NT workstation, a user
would type the following command from a DOS box:
ip-address
is the IP address of the AWAN access server.
tcp-port-number
is the TCP port number that was assigned to the modem port module port or
asynchronous port where the external modem is connected when the Telnet service
was configured (see Setting Up a Telnet Service on page 11-4).
The user can then issue AT commands to direct the modem to dial out.
