Configuring Workstations for NASI Dial-Out
The Com Port to NASI Redirector for Windows is only required on PCs that will be
used to dial-out from the AWAN access server to your local network.
Using INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS
INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS enables a PC connected to a Novell NetWare
network to support NASI. With INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS loaded, you can
access the modems attached to the central server using any communications software
that supports NASI. The INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS application is only
required on PCs used to dial-out from the server connected to your local network.
Because INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS is a DOS program, you must double-click
on DOS from the Program Manager or exit Windows to start the application. INT14 to
NASI Redirector for DOS is located in the directory you specified when you installed it.
(The default program is C:\Abutils.) To load INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS, enter
the following command and then press the Enter key:
C:\ABUTILS> MI14CON
Once the INT14 to NASI Redirector for DOS is loaded, you can start the application
that uses NASI to open a connection. How you connect to the NASI service will depend
on the communications software package you use. Refer to the documentation provided
with your communications software for information on how to establish a NASI
connection.
Configuring Communications Software for NASI Dial-Out
This subsection describes how to configure the communications software on a
workstation for use with the Com Port to NASI Redirector and IN14 to NASI Redirector
applications.
If You Are Using Com Port to NASI Redirector for Windows
You can use the Com Port to NASI Redirector for Windows application with any
Windows terminal emulator or communications software that supports the standard
communication ports. To use a modem on the AWAN access server for dial-out,
configure your communications software as follows:
1. Choose the communications port redirected by the Com Port to NASI Redirector.
The communications port must be redirected to a dial-out port on the AWAN access
server.
2. Configure the communications port for hardware flow control. This option is usually
located with the communication port option and may be shown as Request to Send
(RTS) or Clear to Send (CTS).
3. Choose the modem type for the modem attached to the AWAN access server. Your
communications software must be able to initialize the modem, so you must choose
the correct modem type.
Note. Com Port to NASI Redirector for Windows does not work with Windows 95 running 32-
bit applications.
