Checking the Runtime Code Version
Using an Asynchronous Terminal Connection
To determine the version of the runtime code using an asynchronous terminal
connection, connect a terminal to an unused RS-232 or Current Loop port on the AWAN
access server.
For firmware release GEM028.9 and earlier, a startup message similar to the following
displays the Hayes and Gemini Communications, Inc. runtime code versions:
Release V3.1.5C13
Gemini ABT 028
Beginning with firmware release GEM028.11, a message similar to the following
appears:
Release V3.1.5C13
RA
Gemini AWAN 028.11
RA indicates R models, such as the 3884R, and TS indicates non-R models, such as the
3884.
Using Telnet
To determine the version of the runtime code using Telnet, start a Telnet application and
connect to the AWAN access server using the well-known Telnet TCP port number 23. A
startup message similar to the one shown in Using an Asynchronous Terminal
Connection is displayed.
Using the RAS Management Tool
To determine the version of the runtime code using the RAS Management Tool, choose
Telnet... from the Server Characteristics and Properties menu to start the Telnet
application.
A startup message similar to the one shown in Using an Asynchronous Terminal
Connection is displayed.
Note. On the Access Beyond Web site, the runtime code version is displayed in a different
format. For example:
3884 (AB2400)-Code Version 3.1.5C13(GEM028)
In this example, the Hayes runtime code version is 3.1.5C13 and the Gemini Communications,
Inc. runtime code version is GEM028.
Note. Do not use the General tab dialog box on the Properties screen to display code
versions; it displays partial version numbers. For an example of the General tab dialog box,
refer to Figure 6-1
on page 6-3.
