Updating the Runtime Code Using the RAS
Management Tool
11. Type the IP address of your AWAN access server.
12. Type the subnet mask of your AWAN access server. Pressing the Enter key defaults
the subnet mask to 0.0.0.0, which works in most cases.
13. Type the TFTP default gateway IP address. The default is 0.0.0.0. The IP address
will be a non-zero value if there is a router in the path from your AWAN access
server to the Himalaya NonStop server.
14. Type the TFTP download path and file name prefix. This is the subvolume portion
only of the fully qualified file name of the runtime code file on the Himalaya
NonStop server. For example, if the file name is $SYSTEM.AWAN83.S01, type
AWAN83.
The download operation is automatic and several messages are displayed. The
download process takes approximately five to seven minutes. When the download
has completed successfully, the following message is displayed:
TFTP DOWNLOAD COMPLETED
Press ESC to Continue
15. Power off the AWAN access server.
16. Power on the AWAN access server while pressing the Factory Config button using a
paper clip or ballpoint pen for at least 30 seconds. (The Factory Config button is
located on the back of model 3883 and under the front bezel on models 3884,
3884R, 3885, and 3885R.) Wait an additional 30 seconds for the flash PROM to be
written before powering off or rebooting or the factory default settings will not be
permanently stored.
17. Verify that the new runtime code has been loaded by following the instructions in
Checking the Runtime Code Version
on page 14-25.
Updating the Runtime Code Using the RAS Management Tool
To update the runtime code using the RAS Management Tool, perform the following
steps:
1. Copy the runtime code file from your PC to a Himalaya NonStop server. The file
must be copied in binary mode (even though it contains ASCII data) and must be
named S01.
Note. This IP address is only used for the TFTP download operation. Although the IP
address used for normal AWAN access operation is typically specified, any valid IP
address is allowed. The AWAN access server configuration managed by the RAS
Management Tool and the Command Line Interface (CLI) is not used during the TFTP
download operation.
Note. Version R1_03_07 and later versions of the RAS Management Tool, version C13 and
later versions of the run time code, and version 1C7 (3883 models) and 2C5 (3884 and 3885
models) of the boot code are required to perform the following procedure.
