Updating the Runtime Code Using the RAS
Management Tool
7. After the update is complete, check the log file for the status of the operation.
Viewing the log file is described in Viewing Logging File Records on page 14-15.
8. Verify that the new runtime code has been loaded by following the instructions in
Checking the Runtime Code Version
on page 14-25.
When Server Upgrade is specified with Local IP Address and Host IP Address referring
to the same subnet, the Gateway Address is not needed and should be 0.0.0.0. If the
Gateway Address is not 0.0.0.0, the following warning is displayed:
Refer to SOFTDOC for special considerations when the AWAN
is on the same IP subnet as the TFTP server and a gateway
is configured.
Click OK after reading the warning. To cancel the TFTP operation, click CANCEL on
the subsequent Start TFTP Update warning screen.
When the AWAN and the TFTP server are on the same subnet, a gateway is not needed,
but some bootblock versions (including 3884/3885 V3.0.2C5) will still attempt to use
the specified gateway during the TFTP operation. Some gateways will function properly

1. Type the IP address of your AWAN
access server in the Local IP Address
text box.
2. Type the subnet mask of your AWAN
access server in the Subnet mask text
box.
The default is usually correct.
3. Type the IP address of the gateway
(if any) in the Gateway Address text
box.
The IP address will be a non-zero value if
there is a router in the path from your
AWAN access server to the TFTP host.
4. The the IP address of the TFTP
server in the Host IP Address text
box.
This is the IP address of the Himalaya
NonStop server where the runtime code file
is located.
5. Type the name of the runtime code
file to be downloaded in the Image
Pathname text box.
Format: subvolume.S01where
subvolume is the name of the subvolume
on the Himalaya NonStop server where the
file resides.
6. Click the Factory option button in
the Reset Type area.
7. Click OK. Do not press the Enter key.
The RAS Management Tool displays a
dialog box to verify that you want to
perform the upgrade.
8. Click OK. The server icon changes to red and displays
DOWNLOAD for about 5 minutes.
Rediscovery of the AWAN access server
might take an additional minute or two after
download completion.
