Solving Common Problems
This subsection describes and presents solutions for common problems.
Asynchronous Terminal and Printer Connection Problems
The following are causes and solutions for common problems with asynchronous
terminal and printer connections.
Note. You can also use Command Line Interface (CLI) commands to diagnose problems with
your AWAN access server. Refer to Appendix C, Command Line Interface (CLI) Commands
for
more information.
Problem The Autoconnect feature is enabled but you see a Local> prompt instead
of the first application screen or line.
Solution Your terminal or workstation is communicating with the AWAN access
server instead of with the Himalaya NonStop server.
This situation usually indicates a problem with the Autoconnect feature
configuration. Check the Line tab dialog box and the Adv. Line tab dialog
box and make sure you configured the correct values, especially the
Autoconnect check box and the Preferred Server (Telserv Host), Node
(Telserv/Service Window), and Dest. Port text boxes.
Configuring these values is explained in Configuring Port Properties on
the AWAN Access Server on page 8-20.
