Asynchronous Terminal and Printer Connection
Problems
Problem An attempt to print a file on an asynchronously connected serial printer
failed.
Solution Try to determine the cause of the problem by performing one or more of
the following tasks:
•
Check the display on the front panel of the printer for error messages.
•
Use the Spoolcom DEVICE, STATUS DETAIL command and check
the LAST ERROR field for an error code. (Not all printer models
report errors to Spoolcom.)
Make sure the following settings are configured correctly for the port:
•
Remote is selected in the Access drop-down list box on the Adv. Line
tab dialog box.
•
Hardcopy is selected in the Term Type drop-down list box on the Adv.
Line tab dialog box.
•
The Speed, Flow Control, Parity, and Char Size settings on the Line
tab dialog box match those configured for the serial printer.
•
The Telnet service (Telnet dialog box).
Configuring these values is explained in Configuring Port Properties on
the AWAN Access Server on page 8-20.
Finally, check the following:
•
Cable and adapter hood pinouts. Refer to the AWAN Access Server
Installation and Support Guide for detailed information.
•
FASTCNFG file on the Himalaya NonStop server.
