server configuration.
RAS Management Tool Problems
The following are causes and solutions for common problems with the RAS
Management Tool.
Problem The AWAN access server has lost the latest configuration changes.
Solution If you stored the configuration changes in a .CFG, restore the .CFG file by
choosing Load... from the Server Characteristics and Properties menu.
Loading a configuration file is explained in detail in Loading a
Configuration File on page 14-23.
Configuration changes might be lost if you reboot the AWAN access
server (initiate a reset or power cycle the AWAN access server) within 30
seconds of making changes.
Problem The AWAN access server has lost its user database.
Solution You can restore the AWAN access server’s user database using the user
database stored on the management workstation. To do this, choose
Users... from the Server Characteristics and Properties menu and then
click Synchronize on the User Database dialog box. For more
information, refer to Configuring Workstations
on page 9-10.
Problem The AWAN access server repeatedly reboots, front panel lights cycle
every 1 to 2 minutes, and no contact is seen at the server icon.
Solution Try performing a factory reset. Performing a factory reset is explained in
Resetting the AWAN Access Server
on page 14-17.
Problem The RAS Management Tool did not start.
Solution The RAS Management Tool requires NetWare VLM software version 1.1
or later (on a Novell IPX network) or a Winsock-compliant TCP/IP stack
(on an IP network) to operate.
If you do not have the correct version of NetWare VLM software loaded
on your computer, the RAS Management Tool will not be able to locate
the necessary NetWare DLLs. If you receive a message telling you that
certain NetWare files could not be found, you must upgrade the NetWare
client. You can retrieve the latest version of the NetWare client on the
Novell Web site at http://www.novell.com.
