RAS Management Tool Problems
Problem The RAS Management Tool did not discover the AWAN access server.
Solution Try to determine the cause of the problem by performing one or more of
the following tasks:
If you are using an IP network, make sure that an IP address was
assigned to your AWAN access server by a DHCP server, by the
BOOTP service, or by CLI commands. The IP address is displayed on
the BOOTP Entry dialog box as shown in Figure 5-5
on page 5-7.
If you used the BOOTP Service to manually assign an IP address to
your AWAN access server, make sure you typed the correct IP address
and MAC address on the BOOTP Entry dialog box. If you configured
an upgraded AWAN access server, it is possible that the MAC address
printed on the bottom of the chassis is incorrect. You can display the
correct MAC address for your AWAN access server using the
Bootblock Menu. Refer to Performing Bootblock Diagnostics
on
page 15-10 for information about using the Bootblock Menu.
Make sure your management workstation has a VGA monitor. If you
are using an EGA monitor, server icons might not be visible in the
RAS Management Tool window.
If your AWAN access server is located on a remote subnet, it will not be
discovered by the RAS Management Tool in the usual manner. You must
configure the Learn Service so that the AWAN access server can be
discovered. To configure the Learn Service, refer to What to Do If Your
AWAN Access Server Is On a Remote Subnet on page 5-7.
Note. If the RAS Management Tool aborts, you might need to reboot the management
workstation.
