Option Name Description
1) DRAM Test - Powerup This memory test option runs the same memory test that
is executed during power-up. This is a very short RAM
test. An LED is lit for each 256k location tested. Once
started, the test runs to completion and alerts you of
pass or fail.
2) DRAM Test - Rigorous This memory test option runs a memory test that writes
a pattern of values to memory. This is a much more
intense test than the power-up test. An LED is lit for
each 128K locations tested. Once started, the test runs
to completion and alerts you of pass or fail.
3) Async Port Tests This port module/asynchronous port test enables testing
of all async ports. The diagnostics can perform an
internal or external loopback test.
This function presents the following options:
“I)nternal, E)xternal, or B)oth?”
Type I. The function then begins the tests which
continue until you press the Esc key on the console.
External loopback tests are done only in the factory and
require a special connector.
4) 10BaseT Loopback Test This Ethernet test performs a local loopback of the
10BaseT and does not put packets on the network. This
test is run in one-hundred iteration groups and stops at
the completion of one test.
5) Reset Test Counters This Ethernet test clears the port module and 10BaseT
test accumulators. The memory test accumulators are
not cleared.
6) Test Summary This option displays the results of the above five tests.
7) Display Configuration This option displays the following chassis configuration
information:
Base DRAM size (1MB for 3883-8 and 3883-16
and 4MB for 3884 and 3885 models)
Expansion SIMM DRAM size
Flash memory installed
System clock rate
8) Display Boot Config

This option displays the following nonvolatile random
access memory (NVRAM) configuration information:
Media access control (MAC) address
Option flags
Application code checksum
