Commands
You can use Command Line Interface (CLI) commands to perform certain configuration
and management tasks. These tasks are described in this appendix and include the
following:
•
Configuring Initial IP Address Information on page C-3
•
Logging Into a Port on page C-4
•
Starting a Telnet Session on page C-13
•
Diagnosing Problems on page C-14
The syntax of commonly used CLI commands is provided in Common CLI Commands
on page C-20.
Using CLI Commands
This subsection provides general information about using CLI commands.
General Command Format
CLI commands are entered at the Local> prompt according to the following rules:
•
Some command keywords can be abbreviated
•
Pressing the Enter key (ASCII CR or hex 0d) completes a command
•
Pressing the Backspace key (hex 08) erases the last character
•
Other control characters are not used and are echoed as a ^ character and an
additional character
•
Ports are numbered starting at 1
•
Commands that specify a port number can specify a range of port numbers separated
by a dash (for example, 1-5)
•
If the port number parameter is omitted in a command that specifies a port number,
the command refers to the port where the command is entered
•
The use of the keyword ALL in place of a port number is not recommended because
it also refers to the remote Telnet (6530 gateway) ports
Note. This appendix describes the CLI commands that can be used in the Tandem
environment; other commands are available but are not described in this manual.
