Tandem 6530 terminals, 6530-compatible terminals, VT-series terminals, and
workstation-based 6530 and VT-series terminal emulators can communicate
asynchronously with Himalaya S-series and K-series servers through the AWAN access
server. These devices can be connected to the AWAN access server directly through
RS-232 or Current Loop ports or remotely through modems.
Serial printers can be directly connected to the AWAN access server using RS-232 or
Current Loop ports.
A single AWAN access server can be configured to provide terminal, terminal emulator,
and serial printer connections to multiple Himalaya NonStop servers.
Figure 1-1
shows a sample configuration that has simultaneous support for a directly
connected 6530 terminal and VT-series terminal, a remotely connected 6530 terminal,
and a serial printer.
Note. For VT-series terminals and workstation-based VT-series terminal emulators, the AWAN
access server provides VT-to-6530 protocol conversion.VT-to-6530 protocol conversion is
supported on AWAN access server models 3883-8R, 3883-16R, 3884R, and 3885R only.
