•
Term Type must be 6530
•
Username must be GUEST
Login Timeout
When the first character is received by the AWAN access server for an idle port, a 180-
second timer is started. If the user name is not validated within this time period, the port
is logged out to avoid “hanging” the port because of user error, intentional abuse, or
improper automatic login by remote access clients, and so forth. The timer is stopped
when the user name is validated.
Session Protocol Selection
Session protocol selection applies to terminal sessions only. For remote access sessions,
the protocol is determined by the sequence described in Protocol Detection on page C-5.
Some older remote access clients begin a remote access session with a terminal emulator
window during the Enter-Enter-Enter, login: prompt, password: prompt sequence
and then require manual selection of the remote access protocol at the AWAN access
server before turning control over to the workstation remote access client.
The session protocol selection sequence varies according to the Term Type configured
and is described in the following subsections.
Term Type Not 6530
The following menu is displayed:
0. Command Line Interface
1. SLIP
2. CSLIP
3. PPP
4. Remote Control
5. Dialback
Q. Quit
Enter Selection:
Type the single character (without pressing the Enter key) from the menu. XON and
XOFF (hex 11 and 13) characters are ignored. These characters usually occur when the
AWAN access server port is configured for Flow Control None or Flow Control CTS but
the terminal is configured for XON/XOFF flow control. Flow Control is configured on
the Line Tab dialog box. Undefined characters result in a redisplay of the menu. Choice
0 directs login to proceed with 6530 terminal detection.
Term Type 6530
The following message is displayed instead of the menu:
