Local> Prompt
CLI commands are entered at the Local> prompt. Commonly used CLI commands
are described in Common CLI Commands on page C-20.
At factory configuration reset time, Autoconnect is disabled, thus enabling manual port
login. Autoconnect may be enabled or disabled on the Adv. Line tab dialog box in the
RAS Management Tool or by using the Change Port Autoconnect command.
When manual port login is configured, the login process ends at the Local> prompt. A
Connect command or Telnet command is then required to establish a connection to a
Tandem NonStop server or other Telnet server. (The Connect and Telnet commands are
described in Starting a Telnet Session
on page C-13.) When the session to the Tandem
NonStop server stops for any reason, terminal control is return the Local> prompt.
If the Autoconnect feature is configured, the AWAN access server automatically initiates
a session request to the Tandem NonStop server according to the following settings:
Preferred Service (Telserv Host)—the IP address for the Tandem NonStop server
Node (Telserv Service/Window)—the Telserv service or window name
Dest. Port—the TCP port on the Tandem NonStop server
These settings may be configured on the Adv. Line tab in the RAS Management Tool or
by using the CLI commands described in Port Advanced Line Commands
on page C-23.
After establishing a Telnet session with the Tandem NonStop server, the AWAN access
server sends Telserv service or window name followed by ASCII CR NUL (hex 0d 00)
just as if it had been typed by the user. The automated login sequence completes when
the first Tandem NonStop server application screen or line is displayed.
When the Autoconnect feature is configured and the remote session to the Tandem
NonStop server stops for any reason, the port is automatically logged out; the next
keystroke automatically logs into the port for another session.
Sample Screens of Common Port Login Sequences
The following subsections show the messages that are displayed during common port
login sequences.
Note. For detailed descriptions of these settings, refer to Section 8, Configuring Asynchronous
Terminal and Serial Printer Connections.
