6530 Gateway Feature
Figure 1-4 shows an AWAN access server in a remote-control configuration. In this
example, a PC can dial into a modem connected to an AWAN access server and, using
remote-control software, control the keyboard, mouse, and monitor on a PC connected
to the LAN.
Detailed information about the remote access feature is provided in Section 9,
Configuring Remote Access Connections.
6530 Gateway Feature
The AWAN access server can provide VT-to-6530 protocol conversion for LAN-attached
workstation-based VT-series terminal emulators and VT-series terminals attached to a
TCP/IP terminal server. These devices use Telnet to connect to the AWAN access server,
which acts as a 6530 gateway to the Himalaya NonStop server-based 6530 application.
Figure 1-5
shows an AWAN access server in a 6530 gateway configuration. In this
example, a VT100 terminal connected to a TCP/IP terminal server and a LAN-attached
workstation-based VT-series terminal emulator can use Telnet to access a 6530
application on the Himalaya NonStop server.
Figure 1-4. Remote-Control Configuration Example
Note. The 6530 gateway feature is supported on AWAN access server models 3883-8R,
3883-16R, 3884R, and 3885R only.
