What to Do If Your AWAN Access Server Is Not
Discovered
To configure the Learn Service, choose Learn Service... from the Options pull-down
menu on the RAS Management Tool menu bar. (The Options menu is shown in
Figure 5-3 on page 5-6). The Learn Service dialog box is displayed as shown in
Figure 5-6
.
Click Add and then type the IP address assigned to your AWAN access server in the IP
Address text box. Click OK twice to exit the Learn Service dialog box. The AWAN
access server is discovered by the RAS Management Tool and a server icon appears at
the bottom of the RAS Management Tool window. The discovery process takes about 30
seconds.
What to Do If Your AWAN Access Server Is Not Discovered
If your AWAN access server is not discovered after it has been assigned an IP address,
try to determine the cause of the problem by performing one or more of the following
tasks:
•
Make sure that an IP address was actually assigned to the AWAN access server. The
IP address should be displayed on the BOOTP Entry dialog box as shown in
Figure 5-5 on page 5-7.
•
If you used the BOOTP Service to manually assign an IP address to your AWAN
access server, make sure you typed the correct IP and MAC addresses on the
BOOTP Entry dialog box. If you configured an upgraded AWAN access server, it is
possible that the MAC address printed on the bottom of the chassis is incorrect. You
can display the correct MAC address for your AWAN access server using the
Bootblock Menu. Refer to Performing Bootblock Diagnostics
on page 15-10 for
information about using the Bootblock Menu.

Note. Once you have configured the Learn Service, the Management Tool automatically
discovers your AWAN access server; you do not need to use the Learn Service each time you
log into the RAS Management Tool.
