Step Action Comments
1. Type the timeout value (in
minutes) for discovery in the
Timeout text box.
This is the maximum time for discovery. If
the RAS Management Tool does not discover
the AWAN access server within the timeout
period specified, it flags the AWAN access
server as undiscoverable and changes the
color display bar on the server icon to yellow.
Default: 5 minutes.
2. Click the IP or IPX option button
in the Protocol area.
When you click the IP or IPX option button,
the RAS Management Tool no longer asks
which protocol you want to use to
communicate with your AWAN access server
at startup time.
Click the IP option button for IP networks.
Click the IPX option button for Novell
NetWare networks.
3. Disable the Auto Discovery check
box if you want to enable manual
discovery mode.
When Auto Discovery is enabled, the RAS
Management Tool automatically discovers
AWAN access servers. It attempts to discover
a new AWAN access server every 30 seconds
using an SNMP broadcast.
When Auto Discovery is disabled a Discover
item appears on the RAS Management Tool
menu bar.
Default: Auto Discovery is enabled.
3. Click OK.
