Configuring the Polling Option
Once the RAS Management Tool has discovered an AWAN access server, it polls the
AWAN access server periodically to verify that it is still active. The Polling option
enables you to specify the polling interval and the number of retries.
To configure the Polling option, choose Polling... from the Options pull-down menu.
The Polling Options dialog box is displayed as shown in Figure 5-17
.

Step Action Comments
1. Type the polling interval (in minutes)
in the Interval text box.
The RAS Management Tool polls AWAN
access servers at the interval specified in
the Interval text box to see if they are still
active. If no contact is made, the RAS
Management Tool retries the poll the
number of times specified in the Retry
Count text box.
Default: Five minutes.
2. Type the number of retries in the
Retry Count text box.
This value specifies the number of times
that the RAS Management Tool retries a
poll. If an AWAN access server cannot be
contacted after retrying, the RAS
Management Tool changes the color of the
color display bar on the server icon to red.
Default: Three retries.
3. Click OK.
