Saving a Configuration File
Saving a Configuration File
You should always save configuration changes before logging out from the RAS
Management Tool. The RAS Management Tool automatically prompts you to save
changes when you log out (unless you have configured the RAS Management Tool not
to do so).
To explicitly save your AWAN access server configuration, choose Save or Save As from
the File pull-down menu on the RAS Management Tool menu bar. These commands
save configuration information to a .RAS file on the hard drive of the management
workstation or other workstation in the network. The next time the RAS Management
Tool is started, it uses this .RAS file to create a server icon before actually discovering
the AWAN access server. If the RAS Management Tool cannot communicate with the
AWAN access server within the discovery timeout period, it turns the server icon yellow.
If you choose Save to save a .RAS file and a .RAS file already exits for the AWAN
access server, the save operation is performed immediately and the existing .RAS file is
overwritten. If a .RAS file does not already exist, or if you choose Save As instead of
Save, the File Save As dialog box is displayed as shown in Figure 5-22
.
Note. Opening a .RAS file is explained in Opening a Configuration File on page 14-21.
