Configuring the AWAN Access Server
This section describes how to configure your AWAN access server. You should perform
the tasks described in this section before configuring user and port access.
Summary of Configuration Tasks
Configuring your AWAN access server involves a number of tasks, all of which are
optional. You can choose to accept the default configuration values or customize your
AWAN access server configuration.
Table 6-1
lists each AWAN access server configuration task and describes the default
configuration that will be used if you do not perform the task.
Table 6-1. AWAN Access Server Configuration Tasks (page 1 of 2)
Task Description
Configuring General Properties You can enter a description of your AWAN access server
and configure contact information.
Default: No description or contact information is
configured.
Configuring IP Properties If you are using your AWAN access server in an Internet
Protocol (IP) environment, you can configure the IP
addresses of a gateway and a domain name system (DNS)
server in your network. You can also modify the IP
information assigned to your AWAN access server.
Default: If the AWAN access server was able to discover
a gateway on your local area network (LAN), the IP
address of that gateway is configured. A DNS server
address is not configured. An IP address is automatically
assigned to your AWAN access server by a DHCP server
or can be explicitly assigned using the BOOTP service or
Command Line Interface (CLI) commands.
Configuring IPX Properties If you are using a model 3883-8R, 3883-16R, 3884R, or
3885R AWAN access server in a Novell NetWare
environment, you can configure Network Asynchronous
Serial Interface (NASI) dial-in and dial-out. You can also
override the learned frame type, Internet Package
Exchange (IPX) address, and remote-node address.
Default: Neither NASI dial-in nor NASI dial-out is
configured.
