Configuring IP Properties
Configuring IP Properties
To configure IP properties, choose Properties... from the Server Characteristics and
Properties menu and then click the IP index tab. The IP index tab dialog box is displayed
as shown in Figure 6-3
.
The IP address and subnet mask that were assigned to your AWAN access server by a
DHCP server—or that you assigned using the BOOTP Service or CLI commands—are
displayed in the Module Address and Subnet Mask text boxes.
The AWAN access server attempts to discover the nearest gateway on the LAN using the
routing information protocol (RIP). If it discovers a gateway, an IP address is displayed
in the Gateway Address text box. The gateway IP address is used to connect users to
hosts beyond the local network.
You can use the DNS Address text box to specify the IP address of a DNS server in your
network. A DNS server resolves host names (for example, myhost.tandem.com) into
their corresponding IP addresses.
