Introduction to AWAN 3886-Series
Servers
The HP Asynchronous Wide Area Network (AWAN) 3886-series access servers
provide asynchronous connectivity for HP NonStop servers. AWAN models include the
3886-8A, 3886-16, and 3886-32 access servers, supporting from eight to 32
asynchronous ports plus an Ethernet port.
AWAN servers move communications processing from the NonStop server host to
Ethernet-connected devices to free the NonStop server from unnecessary processing
and to provide added versatility in configuring asynchronous devices. Using remote
access server software, workstations can gain remote node access to LAN resources,
enabling client/server applications.
