Configuration for Group
If more than one group is specified, this drop-down menu allows you to
choose which group to view.
Number of Groups The number of groups specified. The usual number is one.
Basic Server Configuration
Property Description
Host address IP address of the host system on which the server is listening.
Port number
Port number on the host system to which all Comm Server processes in the group are
listening. The port number cannot be used by any other process on the host system.
TCP process
Name of the TCP process that is used by the Comm Server group. This process must
be enabled for Parallel Library TCP/IP.
Dedicated server
If checked, the specified Comm Server is designated as a dedicated server. The
Location Service Daemon (LSD) skips dedicated Comm Servers when creating
external client mappings. A dedicated Comm Server is used only if it has a manually
entered Comm Server mapping.
Server Configuration Options
Property Description
Maximum servers
The number of Comm Server processes in the group. The number of maximum
servers and static servers must be the same.
Static servers
The number of static Comm Server processes in the group. The number of static
servers and maximum servers must be the same.
Process name
The names of the Comm Server processes in the group. The names must be
specified. The number of names specified must equal the number of maximum
servers.
Processors
List of CPUs in which server processes can run. Separate the CPU numbers with
commas; for example, 1,2,5. You must enter at least as many CPU numbers as the
number of servers that have been specified. This field cannot contain duplicate
CPU numbers.
Process priority
Priority at which the server process is run. The range of values is 1 through 199,
the highest priority being 199.
