Viewing an Object Reference
View an object reference for a name to verify or examine its properties, such as its name binding, type
ID, or available protocols for containing the object.
Display the Naming Service hierarchy.1.
Do one of the following:
Double-click the name in the hierarchy.●
Right-click the name in the hierarchy and select View IOR from the pull-down menu.●
Select the name in the hierarchy and select View IOR from the Action menu.●

The object reference fields are shown in the right pane of the Naming Service Administrator display.
Saving an Object Reference
Save (download) an object reference if, for example, you want to make an object reference available to
an application that does not want to obtain the object reference from the Naming Service.
Display the Naming Service hierarchy.1.
Do one of the following:
Right-click the name in the hierarchy and select Save IOR from the pull-down menu.●
Select the name in the hierarchy and select Save IOR from the Action menu.●

Indicate the file in which you want to save the IOR by typing its path name or by using the browse
feature to navigate to the directory. Click OK. The file is saved in the location specified.

Refreshing the Display
Refresh the Naming Service Administrator display when a running program has updated the Naming
Service since you first displayed the Naming Service hierarchy. To refresh the display, do one of the
following:
Right-click a naming context select Refresh from the pull-down menu.●
Select a naming context and select Refresh from the Action menu.●
The display is refreshed for the naming context you selected and all naming contexts subordinate to it.
Troubleshooting the Servers
If one or more servers are not started:
Display detailed status for the servers.1.
