Number of Comm Servers
As the client requests increase, you can increase the number of Comm
Servers to handle the additional load.
Basic Server Configuration
Property Description
Comm server Number of the Comm Server for which you want to view or configure properties.
Dedicated servers
If checked, the specified Comm Server is designated as a dedicated server. When the
Location Service Daemon (LSD) maps external clients to Comm Servers and is
looking for the least busy Comm Server, the LSD excludes any dedicated Comm
Servers from the search. A dedicated Comm Server is used only if it has a manually
entered Comm Server mapping.
Host address
IP address of the host system on which the server is listening. The host systems
available in the drop-down list are those managed by the selected TCP process.
Port number
Port number on the host system to which the server is listening. The port number
cannot be used by any other process on the host system. At installation, the user is
prompted to select a value for this port number.
TCP process
Name of the TCP process that is managing the selected host address. One TCP
process can manage multiple host addresses. TCP processes can be spread across
CPUs for load balancing.
Process name
Name of the Comm Server process. The system assigns process names for Comm
Servers, and the names start with the environment prefix. You cannot change Comm
Server process names.
Processor
Number of the CPU on which the Comm Server is running. You can specify another
CPU to balance loads across CPUs. To improve performance, specify the CPU in
which the TCP process is running (then data from the TCP process to the Comm
Server does not have to travel across CPUs).

Priority at which the server process is run. The range of values is 1 through 199,
the highest priority being 199.
