CP6100 Subsystem Error Messages
This section describes network-related operator console and common file-system error
messages, such as those that might occur because of a typographical error.
All subsystem-specific SCF error messages returned by the CP6100 subsystem are
listed and described. These errors all have positive error numbers. Errors returned by
the CP6100 subsystem that have negative numbers are SCF errors common to all
subsystems. Depending on your RVU, the common error messages are described in
the SCF Reference Manual for G-Series RVUs or the SCF Reference Manual for
H-Series RVUs.
Common Versus Subsystem-Specific Errors
SCF provides a pool of error messages, called common errors, that can be used by all
subsystems. These errors always have negative error numbers. Your subsystem may
use these common errors.
Your subsystem also can generate error messages, called subsystem-specific errors,
that pertain solely to the system. These errors always have positive error numbers.
For each error, therefore, you must look at the subsystem identifier to see which
subsystem returned the error and then look at the error number to determine whether it
is common or subsystem-specific.
Example of a CP6100 Error
The following error can be returned by the CP6100 subsystem and is specific to the
CP6100 subsystem. No other subsystem generates this same error number and text.
Cause, effect, and recovery information for this error are given later in this appendix.
Note that the error number is a positive number.
Example of a Common Error
The following error, in contrast to the one above, can also be returned by the CP6100
subsystem, but the error number and text are common to all subsystems using SCF. In
other words, many other subsystems might also use this same -00001 error number
and text. Additional information on this error is given in the SCF Reference Manual for
G-Series RVUs. Note that the error number is a negative number.
CP6100 00011 Alter command rejected because of invalid
attribute value.
CP6100 -00001 Already using resource-name.
