CP6100 Subsystem Management Tools
CP6100 Subsystem Management Tools
The CP6100 subsystem supports these utilities and tools for managing the subsystem.
•
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
•
Event Management Service (EMS)
•
Compaq TSM
•
HP Open System Management (OSM)
Subsystem Control Facility (SCF)
The SCF interface to the CP6100 and wide area network (WAN) subsystems is used to
configure and manage the CP6100 subsystem and is described in Section 8,
Managing CP6100 Using the Subsystem Control Facility (SCF).
BSCT Provides software for byte-synchronous tributary functions.
GFDX Is intended as an enhanced replacement for Envoy Asynchronous Line
Supervisor and Envoy Full-Duplex protocols.
SWIFT Developed by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial
Telecommunications. SWIFT is a bisynchronous protocol that provides
a link-level interface for users planning to interface to SWIFT and that
defines the function and interfaces for SWIFT Interface Devices (SIDs).
A SID provides:
•
Entry of messages to the network from devices connected to the
SID, either locally or remotely
•
Routing and delivery capability for messages received from the
network
•
Queuing and verification facilities
•
Assistance in the control of the SWIFT network interface
•
A supervisory capability for SID devices
SWIFT differs from the IBM definition of BISYNC in the computation of
block-check characters and in link-level error recovery. Multileaving
and transparent text do not apply to SWIFT.
The SWIFT Bisync protocol module used with CP6100 provides control
of point-to-point SWIFT I or II lines and is intended to be the 6100CSS
version of ENVOY SWIFT point-to-point Bisync. The 6100CSS version
of SWIFT does not support multipoint and intermediate text blocking.
