Event Management Service (EMS)
Event Management Service (EMS)
EMS is a DSM interface that provides event collection, logging, and distribution
facilities. The CP6100 subsystem reports events to EMS. CP6100 subsystem events
are described in the Operator Messages Manual.
Compaq TSM
The TSM package is a client/server application that provides troubleshooting,
maintenance, and service tools for the NonStop S-series server. TSM consists of
software components that run on the NonStop S-series server and on a PC-compatible
workstation. The TSM software on the workstation features an easy-to-use graphic
user interface (GUI) that contains extensive online help.
HP Open System Management (OSM)
For the G06.21 RVU and beyond, the HP Open System Management (OSM) product
replaces TSM as the system management tool of choice for NonStop S-series
systems. OSM offers a browser-based interface that improves scalability and
performance and overcomes other limitations that exist in TSM. TSM is still supported;
however, OSM is required to support new functionality in the G06.21 RVU and later.
For more information on OSM, see the OSM Migration Guide and the OSM User's
Guide.
Online Expansion and Reconfiguration
Reconfiguration of the CP6100 subsystem is made online using the Subsystem Control
Facility (SCF) interface to the CP6100 and wide area network (WAN) subsystems.
Table 2-2
compares tasks that you may use frequently and indicates whether they are
performed by SCF or the WAN subsystem. Changes made using SCF are temporary
and exist until a system load or a subsequent SCF change to the line. Changes made
through the WAN subsystem are persistent and are stored in the Management
Information Base (MIB). For more information about using the WAN subsystem to start
or reconfigure data communications processes, refer to the WAN Subsystem
Configuration and Management Manual.
Note. TSM is not supported on NonStop NS-series servers. OSM is the supported system
management tool for NonStop NS-series servers.
