Profile Object Files and Associated Protocols
Profile Object Files and Associated Protocols
The PROFILE object in the WAN subsystem specifies the protocol to be used on that
particular line. Profiles contain modifiers and default modifier values for the different
CP6100 protocols. You create a profile from an object file provided by HP or from a
previously created profile. This subsection introduces the object files provided by HP
for CP6100
Table 3-1 defines the object files that are provided by HP for CP6100. These object
files are installed in $SYSTEM.SYSnn.
Creating a CP6100 Line-Handler Process
To create a CP6100 line-handler process, you must add a PROFILE object
(“PROFILE” is the SCF object name for the profile file) to the WAN subsystem. Once
the PROFILE object is defined in the WAN subsystem, use the ADD DEVICE
command to define the DEVICE object to the WAN subsystem. Then use the START
DEVICE command to start the line device.
Creating a CP6100 line-handler process involves the following steps:
1. Adding a CP6100 Profile
2. Adding a CP6100 Device
3. Starting the CP6100 Line
Further information on using the WAN subsystem SCF commands to create a CP6100
line-handler process can also be found in the WAN Subsystem Configuration and
Management Manual.
Note. You can use SCF commands from the WAN subsystem to list profiles and to view the
modifiers contained in a profile. The INFO PROFILE command lists the devices that are using
a specified profile and lists modifiers and modifier values contained in the profile. The INFO
DEVICE command can display the profile used for the specified device. For more information
about these SCF commands, refer to the WAN Subsystem Configuration and Management
Manual.
