Section 3: HP 5242-ACL Tape Drive 
Clean Me  Error  Flashing  A high error rate has been 
detected reading or writing.
Insert a cleaning 
cartridge to clean the 
tape heads.

Info    This indicates the value of 
the switches used to 
configure the drive for 
different host systems. xx 
is the hexadecimal value of 
the Configuration Switches 
on the underside of the 
autoloader, and y the value 
of the Autoloader Option 
Switches on the rear panel. 
During the power-up 
sequence, it is displayed 
for 2 seconds following the 
SCSI ID. 
Close Door  Error  Flashing  The front panel door is 
open. Any autoloader 
motion will be delayed. 
Probably a magazine 
that is partially inserted 
through the door. Push 
the magazine fully in 
or remove it. 
Drive 
Comms 
Error 
Error  On  The drive has stopped 
communicating with the 
changer mechanism. 
Contact the HP GCSC. 
Eject Fail  Error  Flashing  An eject command has 
failed, either after you 
pressed the Eject button or 
after a host command. 
Try forcing ejection. 
Eject Mag  Info    This is displayed when you 
press the Eject button. 
Error X  Error  Flashing  The mechanism has 
jammed. X gives the 
reason for the jam. 
Press the Eject button 
to attempt to recover 
cartridge and 
magazine. If the 
problem persists, note 
the value of X and call 
the HP GCSC. 
ForceEject  Info    A forced ejection is in 
progress. 
Format  Status    A SCSI command for 
generating a one- or two-
partition tape is being 
executed, or the drive is 
changing the size of the 
partitions on an existing 
two-partition tape.
