Running Data Build

7. Press F14 to save the Conversion Environment settings. Then press SF16 to return
to the Main Menu.
8. If the tape data is not in IXF format, go to step 9.
If the tape data is in IXF format, the following applies to the Build (F2) step:
Single-Tape Input
The IN Data Files specification is used for the BUILD DDL (F2) step as follows:
a. The input tape must be mounted before you press F2. Verify that you have
the correct tape before you mount it because Data Build does not check if the
mounted tape is the correct one.
b. Data Build scans the entire tape and writes the Header, Table and Column
records for each file to a disk file with the prefix specified for IN Data Files.
For example, if DUMMY was specified, the H, T and C records for the first file
are written to DUMMY01, for the second file to DUMMY02, etc. These files
are on the Conversion Project Subvolume unless a qualified name was
specified.
If any of these disk files already exists (possibly from a previous run), the
following two messages are issued:
BLDDDL: Data File In Create Error- \sys.$vol.subvol.filename- 00010
BLDDDL: File Exists, Okay to PURGE? Enter Y/N:
Enter Y to continue. Otherwise, enter N, change the prefix to a different name
on the CONFIGURE (F1, Conversion Environment) Screen, and rerun the
BUILD DDL (F2) step.
c. Data Build then processes these disk files and creates a Source Record
Descriptions file for each file found on the input tape.
Note At the end of the F2 step, the input tape is rewound, but not unloaded. The tape is subsequently used in
the RUN (F5) step.
Multiple-Tape Input
The procedure for converting multiple-tape input is similar to single-tape input
with the following exceptions at the end of the first tape and at the end of the last
tape.
At the end of the first tape, do the following:
a. When Data Build comes to the end of the first tape, it issues the following
message:
BLDDDL: End of Volume Encountered
BLDDDL: Attempt to Proceed? Enter Y/N:
b. You must mount the next tape before you enter Y to proceed.
