2 DDL Language Elements
A DDL source schema consists of DDL statements, DDL compiler commands, and
comments. You must enter statements, commands, and comments according to strict
syntax, or rules of form. This section introduces the DDL syntax by describing the
language elements common to statements and commands, the comments associated
with statements, and the rules for entering DDL statements and commands. The
syntax of the statements and commands is described in sections 4 through 9 of this
manual.

The following rules apply to all DDL names:

A DDL name can contain up to 30 of the following ASCII characters:

Letters of the alphabet (A - Z) (a - z)
°
Decimal numeric digits (0-9)
°
Hyphen (-)
