About This Guide
This guide provides background information about HP NonStop Data Transformation Engine (NonStop
DTE) and the Mercator product as well as a list of related guides. This guide also provides installation
procedures for NonStop DTE on the HP NonStop platform.
Assumptions
The assumption throughout the documentation for the NonStop DTE products is that you are familiar
with the use of the Windows 95/98, or the Windows NT operating system, and have some familiarity
with data structures.
New and Changed Information
This edition of the manual includes corrections to the location of the documents on the CD and to the
procedures for installing the Design Studio. Both changes are in Chapter 2.
Related Manuals
NonStop DTE provides a HP NonStop Technical Library (NTL) collection on the product compact disc
as well as PDF versions of the manuals. This section describes all the manuals included on the product
CD.
1. Start with this manual, the NonStop Data Transformation Engine Getting Started Guide, to get an
overview of the product and of the manual sets.
2. Next, read the NonStop Data Transformation Engine NonStop Data Transformation Engine Design
Studio Tutorial.
3. In step 3, you can either use the Integration Flow Designer to design the flow of your maps or you
can work through the Type Designer and Map Designer and then perform the flow design in step 6.
Refer to either the NonStop Data Transformation Engine Integration Flow Designer Reference
Guide or the NonStop Data Transformation Engine Type Designer Reference Guide accordingly.
4. Use the NonStop Data Transformation Engine Map Designer Reference Guide to define your map
rules. At the same time that you use the Map Designer, you also need to refer to the NonStop Data
Transformation Engine Services Guide for information about the data source definitions for Tuxedo
and for information about how to define map rules to process XML data.
5. Use the NonStop Data Transformation Engine Functions and Expressions Reference Guide to
create component rules in the Type Designer and map rules in the Map Designer.
