Conventions
Several conventions and assumptions have been used to provide clearer documentation throughout the
NonStop DTE manual set.
Installed Path
Throughout the NonStop DTE product documentation, the path where each product component is
installed may be shown in the captured screen images. In the examples, the product is shown as installed
in the default directory, c:\Mercator5.0, or c:\mercator. However, HP recommends installing the
product into c:\NSDTE6.7.1. If you have installed the product in this or a different path, please adjust
your commands and examples to correspond with that path.
Syntax Notations
The following conventions are used to represent command syntax throughout this manual.
Literal
Literal characters appear in boldface and should be entered exactly as they appear.
Variable
Variables appear in italics and are placeholders that represent user-supplied
information.
[A]
Options appear in brackets. Do not type the brackets as part of the option.
B…
Ellipses indicate an element that can repeat.
A|B
A vertical bar separates mutually exclusive choices.
{ }
Braces indicate a set of choices.
Spaces are entered as they appear in the syntax.
