System Window
Element Description
Work area The work area is the main viewing area of the system
window and is where you construct the system definition
file, which is the graphical representation of the
components that compose the system. It can also show
links that represent data flow between the components.
Components can be source maps, compiled maps, pseudo
maps, or other systems (also known as subsystems)
Property Bar The property bar appears below the title bar to show the
assigned Server, the Execution Mode, and the Platform
of the assigned server
Server From the Server field, you can select a server on which the
system will run from drop-down list. This drop-down list
contains the list of default servers as well as each server
that is defined within the currently selected system
definition file.
Execution Mode Assign the execution mode to define the type of Command
or Event Server that will run the system. The Execution
Mode drop-down list includes Command and Event
Server. Selecting Command specifies that this system will
be run using a Command Server. Selecting Event Server
specifies that this system will be run using an Event Server
Platform This field shows the platform type associated with the
assigned server. Specify the platform type in the Add
Server or Edit Server dialogs which appear by selecting
New or Edit from the Server menu
Working with System Windows
This section describes how to work with system windows. You work with system
windows by using the System menu and the Navigator. The System menu
commands operate on systems contained within the system definition file that is
currently selected in the Navigator. The Navigator always shows you which item
is currently selected regardless of operations that you may be performing
throughout the IFD.
