For example, in the following type tree, the data contains a ShipToCode Field. To
map the data for the ShipToCodes differently based on region, partition
ShipToCode into East, North, South, and West subtypes and define the
ShipToCode Field values that fall into each subtype.
Partitioning Items
Use one of the following three methods to partition items in type trees:
♦ Initiators
♦ Restrictions
♦ Format
Partitioning an Item Type Using Initiators
To partition by initiator, each subtype must have an initiator and the value of the
initiator must be unique for each subtype.
Note Partitioning by initiator is the most efficient method of partitioning.
