Chapter 2 - Using the Type Tree
Maker
This chapter discusses how to create type trees using the Type Tree Maker.
Creating an XML Document File
The Type Tree Maker uses document files in an XML format (.mts file extension)
to create type trees. The following steps describe how to use the Type Designer to
export the example type tree xreftbl.mtt to the XML document file xreftbl.mts.
The Type Tree Maker is then used to convert this file into a type tree.
To create an XML document file (.mts) using the Type Designer
1 From the Start menu, select Programs > Mercator version > Design
Studio > Type Designer.
2 In the Startup dialog box, select Open an existing type tree file and click
OK.
The Open dialog box appears.
3 Navigate to install_dir\examples\dsgnstud\ttmaker\export.
4 Select the xreftbl.mtt type tree.
5 Click Open.
6 Select the root type Data.
7 From the Tree menu, select Export.
The Save As dialog box appears.
