What's New Reference Guide

New: Graphical Impact Analysis for All Designers
The Source Compare feature allows you to compare two Mercator source files of
the same type, to discover the differences, and to graphically navigate through
the differences. The Source Compare feature provides impact analysis for different
versions of Mercator data models, transformation models, and system integration
models. This feature becomes extremely useful to speed development or
troubleshooting tasks for an enterprise with multiple teams using the Mercator
Design Studio.
New: Create Type Models by Example with the Text Importer
The Text File Importer adds a big time-saver to Version 6.0. The Text Importer
generates a type tree from a text file interactively. This new importer allows users
to create data models automatically from an example of the data. This is
extremely useful for legacy data without meta-models and for basic training on
Mercator products.
More Design Aides for Increased Productivity
New: Color-Coded Rules
Map rules and component rules are now color-coded with user-configurable colors
to distinguish functions from arguments, object-names, and other properties
associated with rules. You can customize the colors you want to see or disable the
feature to view rules in a monochrome mode.
New: Undo Feature for All Designers
The Undo feature permits you to undo unlimited previous actions. The Undo
feature is supported in the Type Designer, Map Designer, Integration Flow
Designer, and Database Interface Designer.
Improved: A Consistent Look-and-feel for Type Objects
Class windows for categories, groups, and items in the Type Designer have been
changed to support easier visibility of highly nested objects. The same consistent
look-and-feel for type objects has been applied to the TO and FROM windows in
the Map Designer.
The Map Designer’s window splitter has been removed and has been replaced with
the ability to view multiple source and target card objects at the same time.
