Data Transformation Engine XML Adapter Reference Guide

XML Data Adapter Reference Guide
5
Chapter 1 - XML Data Adapter
This chapter introduces the Extensible Markup Language (XML) Data adapter. Use
the adapter with a Command Server, Event Server, Platform API, or map in a map
rule.
Overview
The XML Data adapter processes and converts XML data for use in maps. When
used as a source adapter, the XML Data adapter runs an internal map to produce
usable data. When used as a target adapter, the XML Data adapter produces XML
formatted data.
In the Design Studio, the type property extension feature allows XML data to be
directly validated and constructed without using the XML Data adapter. This
feature improves performance and simplifies the use of XML data.
System Requirements
The minimum system requirements and operating system requirements for the
XML Data adapter are detailed in the release version update (RVU) notes. It is
assumed that a Command Server has already been installed on the computer
where the adapter is to be installed for run-time purposes.
Additional requirements:
The XML Data adapter must be installed in the same directory as the Command
Server for your specific platform.
TCP/IP must be installed on the machine where the adapter is installed.
See the Getting Started book for details about the installation program.
