DataLoader/MX Reference Manual (G06.24+)
Specifying File-Related Options for DataLoader/MX
DataLoader/MX Reference Manual—525872-002
4-12
SUBTYPE
FB <fbspecs>
specifies that the block contains fixed, blocked records. Each block contains an
integral number of records. The format of fbspecs is:
RECSIZE=num [,PADCHAR=charspec]
where num is the length of the record in bytes, and charspec indicates
what character to use to pad short records on output.
VB <vbspecs>
specifies that the block contains records that are variable in length. The format
of the block is the same as that used by FUP when specifying the VARIN or
VAROUT option. The format of vbspecs is:
[BLOCKSIZE=num]
where num is the size of the blocks. The default block size is the maximum
physical I/O size for the given file type, which is equivalent to specifying the
buffer size using the BUFSIZE modifier rather than BLOCKSIZE.
IBMVB
specifies that the block contains records that are variable in length. The format
of the block is the same as that used by IBM MVS systems when creating
variable, blocked datasets.
Use IBMVB only for input files that are tapes, unstructured disk files, or
$RECEIVE.
SUBTYPE
Use this modifier only with $RECEIVE to enable DataLoader/MX to appear as
something other than a subtype 0 process (the default). See the TYPE modifier, next,
for a more complete discussion.
This modifier has the format:
SUBTYPE=num
TYPE
Use this modifier only with $RECEIVE to enable DataLoader/MX to appear as
something other than a type 0 process (the default).
This modifier has the format:
TYPE=num
Use TYPE to read or write a DataLoader/MX process from a COBOL program. The
COBOL library supports only automatic blocking and unblocking for tape and
unstructured disk files. If a load scenario includes a COBOL program performing an
