1 Introduction to NonStop DCE
This section introduces the NonStop DCE components, extensions, and limitations.
NonStop DCE Components
NonStop DCE provides a fully compliant, interoperable DCE product for an HP
NonStop K-series, S-series, or NS-series system. Table 1-1 indicates which of the
standard components are included in NonStop DCE.
Core and Optional Services
The core services are required elements of NonStop DCE. They provide the DCE
application program interface (API) and the components that allow DCE
interoperability. Also included are the customized NonStop DCE reference pages
(called man pages on other systems).
The core services are divided into these software components:
DCE Core Services (T8403)
DCE Security Core Services - Export (T8328)
DCE Security Core Services - USA (T8329)
DCE Core Services (T8403) is required for NonStop DCE. It contains the
administrative components, the NonStop DCE application development environment
(ADE), and the NonStop DCE reference pages.
In addition to DCE Core Services, one of the DCE security core service libraries, either
Export (T8328) or USA (T8329), is also required. Each library contains the entire DCE
API in the form of a shared run-time library (SRL) for the TNS version of DCE or a user
