Installing NonStop DCE

3-2
Initial Installation or Complete Reinstallation
In both cases, files are extracted from the pax archive and moved to their OSS file-
system locations. This operation is performed using the install option of the
dce_config utility instead of the COPYOSS or PINSTALL utilities used to install
Open System Services. (PINSTALL or pax can still be used to list the files in the pax
archives.)
The dce_config utility can be run either interactively or in batch mode. See
Appendix C, Noninteractive Use of dce_config, for more information on batch mode
use of dce_config.
Execution of the dce_config utility is affected by the values of its environment
variables. These variables can be assigned values and exported from the OSS shell
used to start the dce_config utility; see the dce_config(8) reference page either
online or in Appendix B, dce_config(8) Reference Page.
NonStop DCE includes the core services and optional products listed in Table 3-1.
Initial Installation or Complete Reinstallation
To initially install NonStop DCE or to completely replace an existing DCE installation:
1. Verify that Open System Services is installed and running. If Open System
Services is not installed or running, see the Open System Services Installation
Guide.
