Partial Installation or Upgrade
If a NonStop DCE TNS virtual host is already installed and you are installing
another TNS virtual host, the following prompt appears:
Do you want to update the file /usr/lib/libdce.so with the
new SRL /G/vol/subvol/srlloc? (n)
where the character shown in parentheses is the default response if you press
Return.
24. Enter:
Output from installing the reference pages is shorter. No list of installed files is
displayed. Instead, this following message appears:
installing /G/vol/subvol/t8403man ... dce_config will give no
output for several minutes
finished installing man pages
The reference page installation process automatically runs the merge_whatis
utility to update the /usr/share/man/whatis database.
25. Exit dce_config by selecting option 99 from the main menu.
26. Run the Pcleanup utility to remove obsolete files (such as older reference pages)
by entering these commands at an OSS shell prompt:
cd /etc/install_obsolete
Pcleanup -r source
For more information on machine configuration instructions, see Section 4, Configuring
NonStop DCE.
Partial Installation or Upgrade
A software upgrade or bug fix includes detailed instructions for installing the new
software. In general, the NonStop DCE demons must be stopped, the new files must
be copied to the OSS file system, and the demons must be restarted.
Generally, upgrades are done by selecting the INSTALL option (option 1) from the
main menu displayed by the dce_config utility. However, running the pax utility
directly might be more convenient or necessary. The instructions with an upgrade or
bug fix indicate the best procedure.
To update NonStop DCE:
1. Ensure that the proper files have been copied to the NonStop DCE ISV or TSV.
2. At a TACL prompt, logon as the super ID (255,255).
y if you want the default DCE library file to be updated with the location of
the newly installed library file; this update allows applications compiled
with the -ldce option to use the new library file as their run-time library.
n to leave the default DCE library untouched.
