Message Catalogs
Message Catalogs
NonStop DCE message catalogs are placed in the directory
/opt/dcelocal.hostname/nls/msg/en_US.ASCII by default. The following
prompt allows another destination:
Enter the directory into which message catalogs
should be stored on the local machine
(/usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1):
Press the Return key to specify the default location (shown in parentheses) or specify
an alternate location.
To ensure that messages are displayed correctly, the NLSPATH and LANG environment
variables must be set in your OSS shell as follows:
export NLSPATH=/usr/lib/nls/msg/%L/%N
export LANG=en_US.ISO8859-1
Note that the value for NLSPATH is the default value.
If the message catalogs are kept in /usr/lib/nls/msg/en_US.ISO8859-1,
NLSPATH and LANG do not need to be set before you run the dce_config utility.
Reference Pages
The dce_config utility installs customized NonStop DCE reference pages in
/usr/share/man.
DCE Library
The TNS version of the DCE library is a shared run-time library (SRL). The TNS/R and
TNS/E versions of the DCE library are user libraries. The DCE SRL or user library can
be kept in a user-specified location and need not be on $SYSTEM. The library is
copied to the specified location and executable binary files in
/opt/dcelocal.hostname/bin are relinked to this file.
To use this enhancement:
1. Set the environment variable TANDEM_ALT_SRL to the OSS pathname of the
Guardian location at which you want the library.
2. Export the environment variable TANDEM_ALT_SRL.
3. Run the dce_config utility and select the INSTALL option.
For faster installation, TANDEM_ALT_SRL can be the library in the ISV or TSV. To leave
the library in the location defined by HP, /G/system/zdce/ldce, leave the
TANDEM_ALT_SRL environment variable empty.
If the installation script finds that a library is already present in the default location or in
the location specified by TANDEM_ALT_SRL, the script displays the software product
