Setting Up an Initial DCE Cell
If only DCEVH is set, the hostname is taken from that variable.
If only TCP/IP_PROCESS_NAME is set, the hostname is derived from the
hostname attribute of the TCP/IP process.
If both variables are set, the name is taken from DCEVH.
If neither variable is set, the name is derived from the hostname attribute of the
default TCP/IP process (that is, $ztc0).
4. Start /etc/dce_config, which displays the main menu:
5. Select option 2 (CONFIGURE).
The dce_config utility checks for the existence of another virtual host in the
current NonStop node. If at least one is found, the following prompt appears;
otherwise, go to Step 8.
Do you want to copy configuration from an existing VH [y/n]?
(n)
where the character shown in parentheses is the default response if you press
Return.
6. Enter y or n.
If you enter n, go to Step 8
If you enter y, a prompt appears followed by a list of hosts and cell names in the
current host. For example:
Enter name of HOST from which configuration is to be
copied:[host1 host2]?
7. Enter the name of a host.
If you enter the name of a virtual host to copy the configuration from, all servers of
the copied configuration are replicated in the new configuration. However, the
global directory agent (GDA) server (gdad), password management server

1. INSTALL -install dce software
2. CONFIGURE -configure and start DCE daemons
3. START -re-start DCE daemons
4. STOP -stop DCE daemons
5. UNCONFIGURE -remove a host from CDS and SEC databases
6. REMOVE -stop DCE daemons and remove data files
created by DCE daemons
7. UNINSTALL -uninstall self DCE host
