DCE Client Configuration
dce_config now prompts for the master security server location by displaying
this prompt:
What is the name of the Security Server for this cell?
10. Enter the machine name of the system where the initial security server is
configured. If you do not know the name, issue one of these commands from an
OSS shell prompt on any configured machine within the cell:
The command output contains the IP address of the master security server, which
you can use to locate the system name in the Guardian file
$SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.HOSTS.
dce_config displays:
DCE requires close synchronization of clocks. During normal
cell operation, DTS takes care of this. However, during
configuration, there needs to be at least 1 DTS server
to synch with. Usually this is the DTS server on the
security master machine
Do you wish to check the local clock against a dtsd server?
(y)
where the value shown in parentheses is the default response if you press Return.
11. If the cell has a DTS server running, and if you want to synchronize clocks with it,
enter y. dce_config prompts with:
Enter a machine which has a DTS server running on it:
(server)
where the value shown in parentheses is the default response if you press Return.
The default name is the security master machine named server.
If the cell does not have a DTS server running, or if it does but you do not want to
synchronize clocks with it, enter n. Then go to Step 13.
12. Enter the name of a machine with a DTS server. The DTS server is then contacted,
and the times on the two machines are compared. If the two machines are
synchronized, dce_config displays:
Time on client is within specified tolerance (120 sec) of
time on server.
If the two machines are not synchronized, dce_config displays:
Time on client is not within specified tolerance
(120 sec) of time on server.
Time on client: 1995-12-04-14:09:29.471-08:00I-----
